My new iPhone has afforded me more time to listen to podcasts, and with this newfound time I decided to search through the iTunes library downloading anything that caught my eye.  Luckily I stumbled upon Adam Carolla’s podcast.  I’ve only listened to five episodes so far (David Cross, Andy Dick, Ed Begley Jr and Rochelle, Dr. Drew and Dr. Ken Jeong), but I have loved everyone of them.  Adam asks questions about David Cross and Andy Dick’s childhoods, Rants with Dr Drew about masculinity, rants with Ed Begley and his wife about why people should be green, and had Dr Jeong (who is the Asian fellow from ‘The Hangover’) discuss his medical career with his accent from ‘The Hangover’.  Of course there is more to it than that, but I find myself laughing repeatedly through each episode even if I am not necessarily interested in the person being interviewed (In the case of Ed Begley, I did not think I would like it, but ended up enjoying the conversation quite a bit).  Long story short, download one episode, if you like it, download more, if you hate it, move on with your life.  If you like David Cross, start with that episode, Andy Dick, same thing, if you like to hear people bitch about city sprinkler systems, definitely go with Ed Begley Jr.

The (Re)Structuring of My Social Life

I almost deleted my facebook and twitter accounts this week.  I spend hours every week reading updates, creating clever updates (or at least trying), or thinking about when I can get my next fix.  Of course it seems odd that I am posting on another form of social site (tumblr), but let me explain.  I am going to change the content of each site and the way I use them:

myspace: I am deleting my account.

facebook: The only reason I did not delete this account is because it is the only medium I have to keep in contact with many of my friends.  I will be using facebook for most of my updates about my personal daily life, basically anything that will only interest my friends will go here.  I have deleted Mafia Wars from facebook, because that too was taking up too much of my time and focus.

twitter: The only reason I did not delete this account is because I like to read news updates, friends updates, random people’s updates, and some celebrities updates.  It is like a constantly updated RSS feed of small blog posts, and I like that.  I will use twitter for updates that would interest more than my friends.  The only catch is that I need to limit myself on how many times I check twitter daily.

tumblr: I am going to try to write blog posts here.

goodreads: I want to keep a running lists of books I read, and goodreads is as good a place as any.

I am also removing my name from all social sites other than facebook, including my email.

Andy put on a singing clinic (a.k.a. a concert) at SOB on Tuesday.  I took some pictures, but most of them were poor quality because of the lighting and my lack of skill.  I recommend visiting Andy’s website (www.andyzipf.com) to download the Coward’s Choir EP and to make a donation to his tour fund.
